Tallow is a form of animal fat rendered down to use its pure form for a variety of purposes. We specifically use leaf fat (from around the kidneys) of cattle and render it down to tallow. The leaf fat provides the highest amounts of fatty acids and lipids and the most ideal consistency for our products. The methods of using tallow for skin care are thousands of years old for its amazing moisturizing properties.

The most common places to apply tallow balm are on the face, lips, and hands, but the amazing results of using our tallow balm often lead our customers to use it all over their body!

Tallow is non-comedogenic meaning it does not clog your pores! The fatty acid and lipid profile of tallow is very compatible with ours, making tallow able to penetrate the lipid barrier and provide a deep moisturization without clogging your pores. Everyone’s skin is very unique to them, but we have had great feedback on how tallow has improved our customer’s acne, dryness, and eczema!

Yes, it helps so much! 😍 Tallow and jojoba oil act as an emollient which replaces lost oils in the skin barrier to soften and improve skin texture.

Yes! We love using tallow for diaper rashes, eczema patches, and as an overall body balm. All of our ingredients are safe to use for all skin types. There is an unscented option if you prefer to not have essential oils.

We proudly source the highest quality tallow from pasture-raised cattle ranches in North Central Montana. These ranches work hard to raise high quality beef, and we are grateful to utilize their byproducts for our natural skincare balms.

There are a few reasons your tallow balm can vary in consistency, but to ease your worry, there is no difference in quality or effectiveness! The reasons for variability are due to it being a natural product: the time of year, the weather, and even what the cattle was grazing on during that time of year. The cattle are pasture-raised and on a rotational grazing program throughout the year on different grasses and forages.

The amber glass jars protect the light sensitive ingredients, but it is ideal to store in a cool spot away from direct sunlight. Tallow will soften and melt above 90 degrees, and if that does happen, place it in a cooler location or even the fridge and it will be back to normal!
